Luxury Vinyl Tile in South Houston

Luxury vinyl tile brings a stone or ceramic style into your home, on a surface that feels warmer underfoot and wipes clean after a spill. We start by checking the floor underneath and telling you plainly what we see. Then we suggest a tile that suits the room.

When Luxury Vinyl Tile Is the Right Floor

Luxury vinyl tile, or LVT, comes in squares and rectangles printed to look like slate, travertine, marble or glazed ceramic. Some styles click together over a pad, others glue directly to the slab, and a few can even be grouted for a true tile look. It works well in kitchens, baths, laundry rooms and entries where you want tile style without cold, hard grout lines or cracked pieces.

It is not the answer for every room. A floor that dips, a slab that gives off moisture or a doorway with no room for added height can all change what we recommend. That is why we look first. We have been in business 25+ years, and the most common problem we see with vinyl tile is a good product laid over a floor nobody checked.

What Your LVT Installation Includes

  1. 01

    Slab moisture and flatness readings

Before anything else, we take moisture readings on the concrete and lay a long straightedge across each room to locate humps and low spots. You see the numbers and the marked areas yourself, not just a verdict.

  2. 02

    Removal of the old floor

We pull up existing carpet, vinyl, laminate or loose tile and haul it away. If old adhesive or thinset is left behind, we scrape or grind it so the new tile sits flat.

  3. 03

Floor leveling where it is needed

Rigid vinyl tile shows every hump and hollow over time. We fill low areas with patch or self-leveler and knock down ridges before a single tile goes in.

  4. 04

    Layout planned around your rooms

We mark the center lines in each room and work out where the cuts will land. The goal is full, even tiles at entries and along the wall your eye goes to first, with the narrow pieces tucked where furniture or cabinets hide them.

  5. 05

    Transitions, trim and cleanup

New thresholds where LVT meets carpet or wood, quarter round or baseboard reset, and a swept, vacuumed room when we leave.

Signs Your Floor Is Ready for Luxury Vinyl Tile

  • Cracked or loose ceramic

Hollow-sounding tiles and grout that keeps crumbling usually point to movement or a weak hold underneath. We find out which before covering or replacing anything.

  • Worn sheet vinyl in wet rooms

Peeling seams near the tub or dishwasher let water creep under. LVT with tight joints holds up far better in those spots.

  • Cold, hard floors you avoid

If you like the tile look but not how it feels in the morning, vinyl tile keeps the style and softens the step.

  • Carpet in rooms that see spills

Stained carpet in a dining area or kids' playroom is a good candidate for a wipeable tile floor.

  • Damage after a water event

Our area's heavy rains can leave floors swollen or stained. We check that the slab has dried before any new floor goes down.

How an LVT Job Runs

  1. 1

    Look at the floor first

We visit your home, test the slab, measure the rooms and talk through the looks you like. Then we explain what we found in plain words, including anything that needs fixing first.

  2. 2

Pick the product and lock the plan

Based on the findings, we tell you whether click-together or glue-down tile fits best and why. You get a written estimate with each part of the job listed.

  3. 3

    Prep day

Furniture gets shifted the way we settled on during the visit. Then the old flooring comes up and we patch or level the concrete. The tile boxes arrive early and rest inside your home so they adjust to its temperature.

  4. 4

    Install and finish

We lay the tile with proper expansion gaps at the walls, fit trim and transitions, and put furniture back. Most single rooms are walkable the same day, and we tell you when glue-down areas can take heavy furniture.

What Moves the Price of Luxury Vinyl Tile

Two LVT jobs of the same size can price very differently. The biggest swings come from what is under the old floor and how much work it takes to make it flat and dry. We explain each line on your estimate so nothing shows up as a surprise later.

Product thickness and wear layer
Thicker tiles with a heavier wear layer cost more and stand up better to pets and foot traffic. We help you match the product to how each room is used.
Condition of the slab
A flat, dry slab needs little prep. Dips, cracks or moisture readings that call for a barrier add time and material.
What comes up first
Removing carpet is quick. Tearing out ceramic tile set in thick mortar takes far longer and leaves more grinding to do.
Room shape and cuts
Bathrooms with toilets, closets and many corners need more cutting than an open living area of the same size.

Luxury Vinyl Tile Questions We Hear Often

How is luxury vinyl tile different from luxury vinyl plank?

The materials are much the same. The difference is shape and style: tile is cut in squares or rectangles printed to resemble stone and ceramic, while plank is long and narrow to mimic wood boards. If a wood look is what you want, our Luxury Vinyl Plank page covers that option.

Is LVT the same as the vinyl tile in stores and offices?

No. That is usually vinyl composition tile, a thinner, harder product that needs waxing. LVT is thicker, has a printed photo layer and a protective wear layer, and needs only sweeping and damp mopping. We cover the other kind on our Vinyl Composition Tile page.

Can you put LVT over my existing tile?

Sometimes. If the old tile is stuck tight to the slab and flat, and the added height still clears doors and appliances, it can work. If tiles sound hollow or grout lines are deep, we will tell you removal is the better path and show you why.

Is luxury vinyl tile waterproof?

The tile itself does not absorb water, which makes it a strong choice for kitchens and baths. Water can still get under it at the edges or come up from a damp slab, so we seal the perimeter in wet rooms and test the concrete before installing.

Do I need to empty the room?

Take out small items, dishes and anything fragile. We discuss heavy furniture during the visit and agree on who moves what, so the day starts on time.
